Calanais Visitor Centre exhibition opening July 2026

At its heart, the exhibition celebrates Calanais as a vibrant cultural landscape. It highlights the intersection of archaeology, folklore and contemporary culture to illustrate the site’s lasting importance. By exploring both the archaeological and cultural dimensions of Calanais, the exhibition will offer visitors a richer understanding of the stones and the communities that have preserved their connection to them for millennia.

Monumental worked with the exhibition development team and created a series of interpretative illustrations based on research and input from their academic collaborators. The illustrations depict key aspects of how the land was used and monumentalised during the Mezolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Age.
