I recently had the opportunity to experiment with optical projections at the spectacular Neolithic passage grave cemetery of Carrowkeel.

Our final morning in Orkney was clear and bright, so once again Ronnie and I headed for Cuween Hill to watch the dawn.

It was difficult to read the pre-dawn skies above Stromness this morning. So, just in case it cleared, Ronnie and I headed out to Cuween Hill cairn in the early hours.

Clear skies over Orkney this morning allowed Ronnie and I to record projections of the solar disc inside Cuween Hill chambered cairn at dawn.

As it was dry and reasonably bright Ronnie and I explored the landscape around the Dwarfie Stane, including other large boulders nearby.

Blue skies in Hoy this evening. The landscape was glowing as Ronnie and I once again walked to the Dwarfie Stane to project the setting sun.

It's an overcast afternoon in Hoy, ideal for recording the Dwarfie Stane in 3D using structure from motion photogrammetry.

Strong sunlight this morning provided excellent conditions for filming projected images inside the Dwarfie Stane.

Clouds gathered over Hoy this afternoon, but the western sky cleared enough for Ronnie and I to project images of the setting sun inside the chamber of the Dwarfie Stane.

Our second day in Hoy dawned bright and sunny, so Ronnie and I made our way to the Dwarfie Stane to explore daytime projections.

Our first evening on Hoy. The evening sky seemed to be clearing to the west so we headed out to the Dwarfie Stane.

We've arrived on the island of Hoy and now it's time to become equated with the Dwarfie Stane. This remarkable Neolithic chambered cairn is cut into a single block of sandstone.

After our visit to Yesnaby, Ronnie and I spent the remainder of the afternoon worrying about whether the Orkney skies were going to clear. As evening approached, we made our way to the chambered cairn at of Wideford Hill in light rain and beneath heavy cloud.

Following sunrise observations inside Camster Round earlier this morning, Ronnie and I spent a few hours tramping around a group of thirteen chambered cairns which overlook the Loch of Yarrows.

After finishing dawn observations at Camster Round earlier in the day, Ronnie and I thought it would be interesting to compare this site with the Cairn of Get passage cairn nearby.

Ronnie Scott and I dashed up to the north of Scotland this morning to view the rising sun from inside the chambered cairn of Camster Round.

Success! After yesterdays journey through stormy seas to Orkney, Ronnie and I watched a stunning sunrise this morning from inside the Tomb of the Eagles.

After monitoring the weather forecasts over the past week, Ronnie Scott and myself have arrived in Orkney. Early tomorrow morning we hope to undertake sunrise observations inside the Neolithic chamber cairn of Isbister, also known as Tomb of the Eagles.
