Illustration & reconstruction

Over the years, Monumental has become known for original and dynamic illustrations and artworks. These engage audiences by featuring colourful characters and capturing sensory experience, theatre and spectacle.

They are based on site surveys, aerial photography, digital scanning and research data. The final images are often used in guide books and information panels.

Site specific installations create focal points in the landscape to provide opportunities for contextual information. Site boards, audio, graphics etc. can all be incorporated to enhance the understanding of a heritage site and stimulate the imagination when little remains of on the ground.

Photography

We provide a range of photographic services from creative landscape and architectural photography, to site and studio based artefact and archival services using a specialist lighting rig. Many commissions are for use in publications, others for archaeological and archival record. In all cases we use photography as a creative medium, to tell a story or provide an accurate record.

3D Photogrammetry i.e. photographic recording in 3D, can be a valuable display aid but is usually expensive. Our practical and cost effective process produces digital models of artefacts, monuments, architecture etc. for use in multi-media applications, websites and video.
