Salmon Spawning in the Lake District

Last autumn Monumental was approached by West Cumbria Rivers Trust with a deceptively simple question: could we film wild Atlantic salmon, underwater, during their annual migration to the Lake District? The answer was yes, but only after professional guidance has been sought as spawning salmon are legally protected. A non-intrusive approach was developed and Aaron Watson spent many days filming the drama as these stunning fish returned to the river of their birth to spawn. The completed film was launched as part of the ‘The Greta’ exhibition at Keswick Museum, which runs from 11th March to 15th May 2016
